Whitehill Country Park took Bronze in this week’s glittering South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2015/16 held in the grand setting of Exeter Cathedral.

The Jeavons family, owners of the family run holiday park in Paignton, took to the stage to collect the much-coveted tourism award in the Camping & Caravanning category.

Whitehill Country Park overcame stiff competition from a record number of 490 entries across not just Devon, but Cornwall, Dorset, Somerset and Gloucester too, together with undergoing a rigorous judging process to win the prestigious accolade.

Whitehill Country Park Director, Katy Lamsin, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have picked up the Bronze award - it’s a huge vote of confidence to all the Whitehill team who work tirelessly to provide our guests with the best holiday experience possible.

“It’s also great to see that all the many investments we have made in our holiday park over the last few years – including the introduction of our boutique hot tub caravans and dog-friendly accommodation -  is providing a real recipe of success.”

Set in the heart of the South Devon countryside yet just moments from the sea, Whitehill Country Park offers visitors a wealth of accommodation served by quaint park facilities.

Its holiday caravan accommodation has seen considerable investment in the last two years, with the introduction of 37 top-of-the-range boutique caravans.

Described as 'a new dawn in caravanning', the caravans feature added luxuries including an outdoor hot tub, iPod docking stations and new dog-friendly accommodation options.

Robin Barker, Director of Services for Tourism Ltd, who manage the South West Tourism Awards commented: “The finalists are the role models in tourism, constantly reinventing their offering and making sure this region stays at the fore in what is one of the biggest and fast growing industries in the world.”
