Whitehill Country Park has been announced as a finalist in the South West Tourism Excellence Awards 2015/16 and picked to represent the region in the national VisitEngland Excellence Awards 2016.
The family run holiday park in Paignton has been shortlisted in the Camping & Caravanning category for the South West and Holiday Park & Resort section for Visit England.
The news follows hot on the heels of Whitehill Country Park’s recent success in the Visit Devon Tourism Awards 2015, for which it was awarded silver and bronze in two categories.
Whitehill Country Park Marketing Director, Claire Jeavons, said: “We are thrilled to be announced as a finalist in the South West awards, and the news that we have also been chosen to represent ‘Team South West’ in VisitEngland’s awards is the icing on the cake.
“It’s a huge vote of confidence to all our hardworking staff here at Whitehill Country Park, and also for the countless investments we have made both in 2015 and beyond, including the introduction of our boutique range of holiday caravans with hot tubs.”
Whitehill fought off tough competition from a record 490 entries from tourism businesses across Devon, Cornwall and Dorset to be named a finalist for the South West region.
Staff from the dog-friendly holiday park will discover if they’ve won bronze, silver or the much-coveted gold at a glittering black tie dinner in Exeter Cathedral on 4 February 2016.
They also eagerly await the results of the park’s VisitEngland award entry for which Whitehill is one of an elite group of tourism businesses picked to represent the region.
Robin Barker, Director of Services for Tourism Ltd, commented: “The finalists are the role models in tourism, constantly reinventing their offering and making sure this region stays at the fore in what is one of the biggest and fast growing industries in the world.”
